WTF is Semiformal?
As graduation is over, the grad parties have started. As the weather is warm, and most grad parties are outdoors, the dresscode more often than not is "semiformal." The word semiformal is confusing in itself. Semi, like partial? So partially formal??
We were confused ourselves, so we decided to break it down.
Black Tie/Evening Wear: This would be the gowns and dresses you see on the red carpet, or like prom dresses.
Casual: Duh. (denim and such)
Formal: Dresses, skirts, heels; fancy
So we'd have to say if you were dressing for a semiformal event it just depends on how dressy you want to go. We would suggest something like the following:
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Bralette: Brandy Melville
Necklace: Charming Charlie
You can never go wrong with a floral dress. They can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. The one shown is perfect because the necklace dresses it up and makes the outfit more fancy, but the open back of the dress and the ladder-back bralette make the outfit more casual for daytime wear. Also keep in mind that your hair and shoes will affect your outfit! For semiformal, something like loose waves (as in picture) and sandals or wedges (casual wedges) would be perfect.
